Feldenkrais Method® for Pain and Posture

The Feldenkrais Method® is often utilized to address issues related to pain and posture. The method emphasizes increased awareness of movement habits and focuses on refining movement patterns to promote more efficient, comfortable, and adaptable ways of moving.

With over 15 years of experience I have helped many adults, seniors, children and athletes to recover from injuries and pain as well as from surgery. Many of my clients (students) who have suffered long-term pain have done many scans, x-rays and exhausted all other possibilities before coming to see him.

The Feldenkrais Method® is a different approach focuses on improving functions rather than imposing a change in the structure.

Benefits of this approach are:

1. Pain:

- Reduction of Tension: The Feldenkrais Method® aims to reduce unnecessary tension in the body, which can contribute to various types of pain, including muscular and joint discomfort.

- Mindful Movement Exploration: Through gentle and mindful movements, individuals can explore alternative ways of moving, potentially alleviating pain associated with habitual or restrictive patterns.

2. Posture:

- Awareness of Postural Habits: The Feldenkrais Method® sessions promote awareness of postural habits and their impact on overall well-being. the students learn to recognize and modify habits that may contribute to poor posture.

- Improvement of Alignment: The Feldenkrais Method® encourages improved alignment and distribution of weight, allowing for better support and comfort in various activities.

3. Movement Repatterning:

- Exploration of Movement Options: The Feldenkrais Method® involves exploring a range of movement options to find more comfortable and efficient ways of performing everyday activities.

- Functional Integration: In one-on-one sessions, a Feldenkrais practitioner provides gentle touch and guidance to help individuals experience new movement possibilities, improving overall coordination and reducing strain.

4. Mind-Body Connection:

- Enhanced Body Awareness: The Feldenkrais Method® promotes heightened awareness of the body-mind connection, allowing individuals to recognize and release unnecessary muscular effort.

- Mindful Movement Practices: Through mindfulness in movement, the students develop a more conscious and intentional approach to posture, reducing the likelihood of adopting harmful positions.

It's important to note that individual responses to the Feldenkrais Method® Method can vary. People experiencing pain or seeking to improve their posture often find value in the method as part of a holistic approach to well-being. Consulting with a certified Feldenkrais practitioner can provide personalized guidance and support based on individual needs and goals.
